This is where tourism on Jamaica’s north coast began: Abe Issa opened the Tower Isle Hotel here in 1949 as the first resort on what was then an undeveloped coastline. • 3rd Floor Condo: 2 bedrooms for up to 4 with 24-hour security, from $103 a night.
• Coastal Escape in Riviera: a 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home for up to 6 with the beach nearby, from $252 a night.

All four have a 2-night minimum. The Waves has no lifeguard on duty, so keep an eye on children at the pool and in the sea.

Fully staffed luxury villas for groups of 12

For destination weddings, milestone birthdays and family reunions, Tower Isle has three 6-bedroom villas that each sleep 12, with a 3-night minimum and rates from $1,995 a night. The Luxury Oceanfront Villa with movie theatre sits on a cliff above the Caribbean Sea with a pool, a jacuzzi open 4pm to 9pm, a home cinema and a chef who cooks for you all day. Groceries are extra, and we can pre-stock the kitchen before you arrive. Events are welcome with an event fee. The Luxury Oceanfront Villa in Tower Isle and the Panoramic Cliffside Luxe Villa each have 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.

Things to do near Tower Isle

White River rafting is about 10 minutes away, and Dunn’s River Falls and Mystic Mountain are about 15. Beaches close to the villas include Sugar Pot Beach at 4 minutes, Rio Nuevo Beach at 6, Mahogany Beach at 10 and Ocho Rios Bay Beach at 12. Lobster Dave, Mangoose Restaurant and Juici Patties are around 10 minutes by car. Skip Tuesday and Wednesday for the falls, since those are cruise ship days. Areca Homes can arrange airport transfers from Ian Fleming International Airport in St Mary or Sangster International in Montego Bay.
